Tennis elbow
One of the common causes of elbow pain is tennis elbow. Tennis elbow is clinically called lateral epicondylitis, which is the inflammation of the tendon around the outside of the elbow joint. Tennis elbow usually develops over time. Repetitive motions such as playing racquet sports, playing the violin and decorating can cause overuse and strain of the forearm muscles and tendons around the elbow point. Typical symptoms of tennis elbow are pain and tenderness around the bony knob on the outside of the elbow, especially when you are using the joint. The unpleasant pain may also travel down your forearm towards your wrist. It usually gets worse while twisting or gripping movements.
Acupuncture can relieve pain and control inflammation. Acupressure points that are commonly used to treat tennis elbow include Quchi (LI-11) and Shousanli (LI-10).
